What to look for when buying a scooter

Scooters are one of the best ways to get little bodies away from screens and out into the fresh air!

But not all scooters are created equal. And when it comes to our precious little ones, safety has to be a priority.

Here are our top things to look out for when purchasing a scooter for your child:

1. Wheels

Check that the wheels are high quality polyurethane. This will help to absorb bumps and avoid nasty crashes!

2. Plastic inserts

A small plastic insert between the aluminium tubes may not seem important, but it makes all the difference. That little spacer between the tubes makes for smoother gliding, especially in colder weather, and stops the two aluminium parts from corroding and freezing together in salt air environments like ours here in Port Fairy.

3. Rubber end plugs

At the end of the handle bars, rubber plugs protect little hands against injuries from burred edges that can develop without the plugs. They also help prolong the life of your scooter – when it falls or its dropped, it’s the plug, not the metal handle bar, that hits the ground.

The range of Swiss-designed micro scooters we have selected for Juno are lightweight and have won special awards for their innovative design since 2007.

But for us, the proof is always in the pudding – in this instance, it’s in the smiles on the faces of every child who tries one!
